Studies on Converting Batch Processes for Chemicals to Flow Processes in Scaled-Up Production

Introduction

A talk from the Chemicals Summit - Agrochemical Symposium

Presented by Dr. Hanuman Gupta, the principal scientist and R&D Head of Agro-Vertical markets at SRF Group – a multi-business chemicals conglomerate in India. Dr Gupta presents studies on converting batch processes to flow processes in fertilizer manufacture. He shows the varying results, risks and benefits of a number of controlled experimental methods, and further comments on their success or failure when scaling up for factory production. Methods include; lithiation followed by borylation, C-C bond formation, selective elimination of impurities, controlled oxidation, selective hydroxy de-diazotization, amination reactions, oxime formation, and diazotization reaction in flow.
