Microplastic Analysis of Selected Marine Commodities

Introduction

Dr. Jose Isagani Janairo of De La Salle University presented a talk on microplastic analysis of selected Philippine marine commodities at the PerkinElmer Global Environmental Science Summit. His findings include quantities of microplastics in fish and mussels harvested in multiple locations in the Philippines, the need to clarify the effects of microplastic expose on organisms and the urgent need to effectively increase the awareness of this challenge in order to successfully manage this emerging pollutant. Dr. Janairo’s presentation includes examples and recommendations for additional research and advocacy relating to microplastic pollution and its impact on the environment.
