WEBINAR

Ensuring the Safety of Packaging Materials for Food, the Environment and our Health

Introduction

This webinar discusses the safety of packaging with a particular focus on the food industry in Australia and New Zealand. It discusses analytical testing requirements in the context of the polymer production chain as it increasingly develops into a circular economy model. We will discuss the impacts of regulation (FSANZ) on rigid and flexible packaging materials including multi-layer poly-laminates. Learn how chemical components can leach out from packaging such as phthalates, residual solvents and volatile-screening - their implications and how you can identify and control safety issues, as well as understand new threats from PFAS/PFOS, and microplastics including microbeads in cosmetic formulations. Address these analytical needs with testing techniques in; LC/MS/MS, GC/FID, GC/MS and IR - used for food testing, regulation on plastic packaging, quality control and quality assurance. Also detection of SARS-CoV-2 for surface testing in food production/handling environments.
