Northeast Laboratory Services is a full service laboratory providing critical testing data for water quality, air quality, radon and asbestos, and we’ve implemented the NexION 1000 with High Throughput System (HTS) to achieve a very high level of accuracy and reliability for drinking water safety testing.
What are the top challenges your lab faces with water testing analytical workflows?
- Achieving the highest throughput; the samples we receive are time sensitive, so fast turn around testing is critical to our business
- Although we need a high throughput environment, we can’t compromise on accuracy, our results must be legally defensible
- Minimal maintenance; we need to be up & running all the time to serve the real estate market, homeowners and municipalities
- Running samples isn’t the only thing we do, we have a lab to run and many other activities that we need to find time to do
Innovation came in the way of consolidation of processes and efficiency. What used to take us a whole day to do, now takes half a day, freeing up precious time to prep other samples, and perform other work that keeps the lab going.
How will PKI solutions contribute to that workflow & those challenges? We have cut our analysis time for a single sample by two thirds and we are running analysis for more analytes in that time. This is huge for our lab, and for our customers, who expect their results within one or two business days.
