The Brownlee SPP C18 column is a high purity column that exhibits excellent peak shapes for a wide range of compounds. This column is filled with 2.7 μm superficially porous particles that contain a 1.7 μm solid inner core and a 0.5 μm porous silica outer shell, allowing for a shorter diffusion path and nearly double the efficiency compared to traditional fully porous silica particles. It can be used to enhance the performance of both traditional HPLC systems and UHPLC systems and is compatible with 2 µm inlet frits, so traditional solvents and sample preparation techniques can be used. Specialized filters are not needed for UHPLC systems.

Biocides are chemical substances that are used to kill or inhibit harmful organisms. Biocides have a wide range of applications in consumer and industrial products.
Ginseng has been used as an herbal medicine in Asia for over two thousand years for its purported various health benefits, including antioxidant, anticarcinogenic, antiinflammatory, antihypertensive and anti-diabetic. The pharmacologically active compounds behind the claims of ginseng’s efficacy are ginsenosides; their underlying mechanism of action although not entirely elucidated appears to be similar to that of steroid hormones. There are a number of ginseng species, and each has its own set of ginsenosides.
Foods from plants are complex mixtures of chemicals including both essential nutrients and biologically active non-essential nutrients, referred to as phytochemicals.
This application note presents a fast and robust liquid chromatography method to simultaneously test nine widely used additives. Among the additives tested are: preservatives (benzoic acid, sorbic acid, dehydroacetic acid and methylparaben); artificial sweeteners (acesulfame potassium, saccharin and aspartame); flavoring agent (quinine); and a stimulant (caffeine).
With Brownlee Superficially Porous Particle (SPP) columns, you can achieve sharper peaks and faster separation results without changing instruments, worrying about high backpressure or compromising column longevity.
Speciation studies can provide comprehensive information regarding ion mobility, bioavailability, and toxicity. Consequently, many modern labs are expanding their analytical portfolio to include HPLC-ICP-MS. For such studies, it is advantageous to have an intuitive, user-friendly system that meets the user requirements for automation, ultra-low baseline, powerful integration, and flexible data export. And no one offers a more integrated, versatile, and inert speciation solution than PerkinElmer - accelerate your speciation analysis with the NexSAR™ HPLC-ICP-MS Speciation Solution.
