Another important application is to make measurements using a specific orientation of incident radiation e.g. for crystalline materials and polymers.

    The Double Polarizer Drive is installed inside the primary sample compartment of high-performance LAMBDAs, i.e., the 650/750/850/850/950/1050/1050+ spectrometers. Its orientation can be fully automated, allowing scans at a fixed wavelength or in a stepped mode. It has a scanning resolution of 25°. When in stepping mode, the polarization (depolarization) orientation can be changed up to 20 wavelength positions.
