MaxSignal® Sulfamethoxazole ELISA Kit is a competitive enzyme immunoassay for the quantitative analysis of sulfamethoxazole. Sulfonamides are widely used as feed additives, mainly for fattening of calves and pigs. Sulfonamides are also used in veterinary medicine for the treatment of intestinal infections, mastitis, and other diseases. Sulfonamide residues may therefore occur in food of animal origin such as fish and shrimp. According to the USFDA and EU-Law, a maximum residue limit for all substances of the sulfonamide-group of 100 ppb exists in muscle, fat, liver, kidney, and milk.
Although physical-chemical methods such as high-pressure liquid chromatography are widely used for sulfamethoxazole detection, their application for routine screening of numerous samples, however, is limited by cost and instrumentation. Alternatively, enzyme immunoassays (ELISA) show considerable advantages over conventional methods. MaxSignal® Sulfamethoxazole ELISA Kit enables international and government regulatory agencies, food manufacturers and processors, as well as quality assurance organizations, to detect Sulfamethoxazole below the maximum residue limit in various sample types in response to customer concerns about food safety.
This kit is manufactured to the international quality standard ISO 9001.
