This presentation is focused on the testing of environmental hydrocarbons in water and highlights many of the methods used for this type of analysis with a focus on FTIR technology. In particular, the speaker highlights ASTM D7575 which is a green method alternative and does not use harmful solvents. Real world samples are analyzed and a comparison of the performance of alternative methods to ASTM D7575 is presented, including the advantages of the method. In addition, the method is demonstrated on an instrument which is portable and can be taken to the point of measurement.
