This fluorescein labeled analog of adenosine triphosphate (ATP) is used for labeling RNA probes via in vitro transcription with various RNA polymerases. Fluorescein labeled RNA probes are used in a variety of molecular biology applications including in situ hybridization and gene expression microarrays. Labeled products may be detected directly via fluorescence or indirectly by combining with anti-fluorescein HRP or AP conjugates.
The number “12” in the compound name refers to the length of the linker arm between ATP and the label.
Fluorescent nucleotide analogs are biologically active with a variety of DNA and/or RNA polymerizes. Labeling methods such as: nick translation, random priming, polymerase chain reaction, 3'-end labeling, or transcription of RNA using SP6, T3, or T7 RNA polymerases may be used.
