Comparison of Caffeic Acid Analysis Using Quasar C18 and SunFire C18 Columns


Caffeic acid is one of the most common phenolic acids and can be found in dietary supplements and a variety of vegetables, fruits, coffee and olive oil. It is a natural anti-oxidant and also exhibits antineoplastic and anti-inflammatory properties. Caffeic acid prevents oxidative stress (imbalance between the production and removal of reactive oxygen species), therefore preventing free radical-induced DNA damage.

This application brief describes the use of a Quasar C18 (250 x 4.6 mm, 5 µm) column in comparison with a Waters SunFire C18 (250 x 4.6 mm, 5 µm) column for the analysis of caffeic acid.
