A receptor ligand binding assay allows for the study and simple imaging of cell surface receptors for research and diagnostic applications. Receptor ligand binding is used in drug development applications to identify blocking antibodies or inhibitors that can modulate downstream signaling events, and is often used to screen for drugs that target hormone and neurotransmitter activity. We offer a range of tools for receptor ligand binding assays including radioligands, receptor-transfected cell membranes, and cell lines. Products available support both agonist and antagonist assays.

Thyroxine (T4) labeled with 125I. Thyroxine is a thyroid hormone that is responsible for regulation or metabolism. T4 detection by radioimmunoassay is a common test of thyroid disease. This product is offered at three specific activities. Specific activity indicates how much radioactivity there is per molecule of thyroxine. Several of our 125I-labeled ligands are offered at maximum specific activity (2200 Ci/mmol if one 125I labeling site is available, 4400 Ci/mmol if two labeling sites are available).

Cocaine, tritiated at the benzoyl-3,4 position. Cocaine binds and blocks the dopamine transporter, preventing removal of dopamine from synapses in the brain.

Ketanserin hydrochloride (Sufrexal; R41468), tritiated on the ethylene group. Ketanserin is a high-affinity non-selective antagonist of 5-HT2 receptors.

Cyclopentyl-1,3-Dipropylxanthine, 8-[Dipropyl-2,3-3H(N)]

8-Cyclopentyl-1,3-dipropylxanthine (DPCPX, PD-116,948), tritiated at the dipropyl-2,3- positions. DPCPX acts as a potent and selective antagonist for the adenosine A1 receptor.

CGP 39653, tritiated at the propyl-2,3 position. CGP 39653 acts as an N-methyl-D-aspartate (NMDA) antagonist.

Angiotensin II (human), labeled with 125I on the tyrosine (Tyr4) residue. Angiotensin II binds and activates angiotensin II receptor type 1 (AT1) and type 2 (AT2) receptors, a class of GPCRs important in vasoconstriction. Angiotensin II is a potential drug target for blood pressure regulation.
