Nucleofection

Transfection describes the introduction of nucleic acids to eukaryotic cells using non-viral methods. However, none of the classical transfection methods yield high transfection rates, nor do they support high post transfection survival or preserve cell specific functionality. Nucleofection, (also known as amaxa biosystem’s Nucleofector® Technology) overcomes these weaknesses in normal transfection methods. Nucleofection is ideally suited for virus-free gene transfer (i.e. DNA expression vectors), RNAi-mediated gene silencing, and generation of stably expressing cell lines.

As transfection has become the choice for investigative work in human diseases, automation has become the standard for increasing workflow efficiencies, boosting productivity and improving assay consistency. Our family of JANUS® automated liquid handling workstations has proven experience integrating with third party devices. In addition to up-front sample preparation, JANUS is designed for efficient and flexible integration with industry-leading 96-well shuttles.

The JANUS automated workstation will enable:

  • Automation of the Nucleofector 96-well Shuttle System: a high throughput extension of the Nucleofector II Device.
  • Integrate with a variety of established cell-type specific kits and protocols.
  • Supports nucleic acid substrates (DNA vectors, ssRNA, siRNA reagents) without any need for further optimization.

Get the benefits:

  • Fully automated ‘walk-away’ workstation provides reliable sample handling with no cross-contamination
  • User friendly software and report templates support third party devices and provide visibility to all parallel processes
  • Modular and scalable design allows you to integrate existing instruments and add processes as your protocols evolve.

Recommended JANUS system configuration:

  • JANUS Integrator Varispan 8-tip with Integrated Gripper
  • Nucleofector 96-well Shuttle System Integration
