Blotting is one of the most prevalent and useful methods for the detection and quantitation of proteins and nucleic acids. All forms of blotting rely on specificity, and depending on the target biomolecule, blotting method used, and substrate used, the technique can require a variety of reagents.
Our products include:
For sensitive and consistent detection of proteins and nucleic acids in blotting applications, count on our wide range of reagents.
The Western Lightning™ Chemiluminescence Reagent Plus is a non-radioactive light-emitting system designed to detect proteins immobilized on a membrane. The method provides a sensitivity of 1 - 10 pg of protein and yields fast, permanent, hard copy results on Kodak X-Omat Blue Autoradiography Film using a variety of CCD imagers. Membranes can be stripped and reprobed if stored wet between uses.
Western Lightning PLUS is an enhanced luminol-based substrate for HRP-catalyzed detection. It is an economical choice that provides twice the sensitivity of standard reagents, and up to eight times the sensitivity of some brands. Furthermore, it offers the best signal-to-noise ratio, and generates good results on either PVDF or nitrocellulose membranes.
Western Lightning Ultra is a highly sensitive chemiluminescence system for detection of horseradish peroxidase (HRP) on membranes, with maximum sensitivity in the low femtogram range. It incorporates a novel enhancer that intensifies a signal generated by peroxidase catalyzed oxidation of luminol.
The substrate produces a signal at 425 nm for at least 8 hours, making it ideal for use with a wide variety of CCD imagers as well as Kodak BioMax® Light or X-OMAT Blue film. Membranes may be stripped and re-probed for detection of multiple targets.
Western Lightning™ ECL Pro is a non-radioactive light-emitting system designed to detect proteins immobilized on a membrane. Kits include enhanced luminol reagent and oxidizing reagent.
The Western Lightning™ ECL Pro Enhanced Chemiluminescence Substrate is a sensitive light-emitting system designed to detect horseradish peroxidase (HRP) immobilized on membranes. It can detect proteins in the low picogram range. The unique non-toxic formulation provides a long-lasting luminescent signal with an excellent dynamic range. These properties makes the Western Lightning ECL Pro ideal for use with a wide variety of CCD imagers as well as Kodak BioMax® Light or X-OMAT Blue film. Membranes may be stripped and re-probed for detection of multiple targets.
