Characterize cellular signaling mechanisms more completely and better understand the complexity of multiple signaling pathways more efficiently with label-free technology. In addition, the technology can also be used to study biochemical interactions.
Make Better Decisions Sooner
From target confirmation to hit-to-lead and lead optimization, label-free detection delivers a unique orthogonal perspective, providing:
- Rich information about both cellular and biochemical assays
- Pathway unbiased analysis of both endogenously and recombinantly expressed targets
- Non-invasive, more physiologically relevant data
- Ability to study difficult targets (e.g. Gi-coupled receptors) or weak biological interactions
The EnSpire® Multimode Plate Reader, with label-free enabled microplates, now offers established Corning® Epic® label-free technology in addition to labeled technologies all within one flexible benchtop reader.
Established Epic® technology has been proven across a wide range of applications using recombinantly and endogenously expressed targets, including difficult-to-screen GPCRs and other targets.

Label-free pathway-independent response is demonstrated across GPCR pathways including more difficult Gi receptors.
Pharmacological response was independent of whether cells were endogenous or recombinant or whether freshly passaged or frozen.

Cell Viability Unaffected by Label-free Scans
Label-free detection allows more physiologically relevant, non-invasive analysis. You can now perform sequential assays following a label-free scan to save time and resources .
Sequential assays can be performed following a label-free assay as demonstrated with ATPLite® luminescence which measures cell viability.
ATPLite® luminescence assay results show that label-free analysis has no effect on cell viability. Additional functional assays can be run (calcium flux, cAMP assay) following a label-free assay.
Only the EnSpire benchtop plate reader detects labeled and label-free assays.
