While TG-IR (Thermogravimetric Analysis coupled to Infrared Spectroscopy) and TG-MS (Thermogravimetric Analysis coupled to Mass Spectroscopy) are well known approaches to the evolved gas analysis (EGA), both have weaknesses. The new TL-9000 transfer line for TGA to IR to GCMS (Gas Chromatography/Mass Spectroscopy) or MS addresses these weaknesses by allowing both FTIR and either MS or GCMS on the same sample allowing the user to collect a wealth of information.
