The Pyris™ Kinetics Software - for use with the Diamond DSC, Pyris 1 DSC, Pyris 1 TGA, DSC 7 and TGA 7 - meets the highest standards of functionality and reliability, and its many unique features make it the obvious choice for laboratories wishing to provide kinetics analysis to their thermal analysis tool chest. From a theoretical standpoint, the new Kinetics suite has impeccable credentials. It is based on the most modern approach to kinetics, one that is now espoused by the most critical kinetics specialists. That approach allows separating temperature-dependent and extent-dependent rate effects by analyzing data from multiple analysis curves to combine data taken at the same extent of reaction. This "isoconversional analysis" allows us to solve for these two effects separately, rather than lumping them together where errors in one term produce errors in the other. This approach results in more reliable kinetics, and more reliable predictions. Another quality feature of these kinetics products is that they allow the flexibility to tailor the kinetics analysis to the unique requirements of each application. Rather than taking a "black box" approach, these programs allow the user to select calculation limits, correct for encapsulation-specific thermal lags, and pre-set appropriate calculation constraints. In the hands of an experienced thermal analyst this will result in superior kinetics results. By using the calculation "wizard" and accepting system defaults, the inexperienced user will soon become expert.
