Phosphorus-33
Radioactive Phosphorus 33 (33P) radionucleotides are
an alternative to 32P or 35S radionucleotides
for DNA and RNA studies. The signal strength of 33P
makes it more sensitive than 35S but not too strong to
distort the band width as can occur when using 32P.
PerkinElmer's NEN® 33P radionucleotides are a
preferred choice over 35S radionucleotides for 3' end
labeling reactions because the natural occurring phosphorus in the
triphosphate chain makes nucleotide incorporation more efficient.
Also, 33P is recommended for kinase assays.
