Richard M. Eglen, Ph.D.
President, Bio-discovery
Richard M. Eglen, Ph.D., is president of PerkinElmer's Bio-discovery business. He joined the Company in 2006 as vice president and general manager of Drug Discovery Reagents, and was named to his current position in November 2007.
Prior to joining PerkinElmer, Dr. Eglen held numerous executive management positions in the pharmaceutical, diagnostic and biotech industries. Until 2006, he was chief scientific officer and executive vice president for Research and Development at DiscoveRx Corp.
Previously, Dr. Eglen served as vice president and director of the Institute of Pharmacology at Syntex Research, as well as vice president of the Center for Biological Research at Roche.
Dr. Eglen has worked extensively in the GPCR, kinase and ion channel fields, from the perspectives of both drug discovery and assay technology development. He is the author of more than 250 publications and book chapters. He holds multiple patents and serves on numerous journal editorial and National Institutes of Health advisory boards.
Dr. Eglen holds a doctorate in molecular pharmacology from Trent University in Nottingham, United Kingdom.
